In recent years, sustainability has become one of the most talked-about topics in fashion. Transparency is essential, yet so many brands stop short of showing what sustainable progress really looks like.

Like many others, I was shocked to learn how significantly the fashion industry contributes to global waste, pollution, and social inequities. This realization inspired me to take a closer look at how POOLSIDE could do better—analyzing our mission, materials, and makers. I hope the love and intention behind each bag inspire many magical moments whenever you carry it.

01. MISSION

Our business is grounded in craftsmanship, natural materials, and small-scale production. Every POOLSIDE bag is 100% handmade, which means our process produces zero industrial pollution.

02.  MAKERS

We collaborate closely with skilled female artisans and small, family-owned workshops and ateliers. Today, we work with more than 300 female artisans around the world. We value the artistry that goes into creating each handbag — no two pieces are ever the same.

03.  Materials

POOLSIDE uses mostly natural materials, including straw and raffia, that are both biodegradable and compostable.
 
Overproduction and synthetic fabrics make inventory one of fashion’s biggest sources of waste. POOLSIDE takes a slower approach, producing in small quantities. Most styles are limited edition, and even our “core” collection of best sellers isn’t guaranteed to always be in stock.
